How much does it cost to join the club?
There is no enrolment fee for joining the Caley. There is, of course,
a yearly subscription. Annual subscriptions and details about locker fees,
etc, can be obtained on the Membership
page.
What
are the opening hours for the clubhouse?
The clubhouse is open from
dawn till dusk at all times, to allow members access to the locker room, etc.
You can check times for the club bar on the Opening
hours page.
Is there a long waiting list for joining, or can I become
a member straight away?
At present there is no waiting list. To join should take no more than
4 weeks, including an interview with the Captain and the Vice-Captain.
Do you have to live in Carnoustie to join the club?
You don't need to stay in Carnoustie to join the Caley, although you do
need to live in Angus to get a season ticket. If you live outside Angus, it
is still possible to join the club through our associate
membership scheme.
What is associate membership?
Associate membership offers the full facilities of the clubhouse, plus the
opportunity to play in all Caledonia golf competitions and represent the club
in both home and away matches. As with full members, this would be subject
to selection. Season tickets and single round fees are paid directly to Carnoustie
Golf Links. The associate member does not have voting rights on any club issues.
How do I become an associate member?
The process to become an associate member is the same as a full member. You
can print out an application
form from the website and then post it to the club secretary. Your
application will be posted on the notice-board for a period of 4 weeks, after
which you will then be welcomed to become a member. The annual subscription
fee for an associate membership can be obtained by contacting the Club
Manager.
Does associate membership entitle me to play golf
at Carnoustie Links?
The club is independent of the Carnoustie Links, which are public golf courses.
However, the club secretary can liaise with Carnoustie Links Management to
arrange a season ticket to meet your needs. Currently to have a full 3-course
ticket at Carnoustie you must be a resident, and a waiting list is in operation.
However, there are other ticket options which may well be available to associate
members. To find out more about these ticket options, please contact Carnoustie
Links directly.
Can I use the lockers in the clubhouse?
All members are assigned a personal a locker when they join the club.
A small additional charge is made for this service.
As a member, can I sign in guests to the clubhouse?
A member can bring in up to 3 guests at any one time.
Do you play matches against other clubs on other courses?
We play inter-club matches against Forfar, Alyth, Newmachar, Blairgowrie,
Carnoustie Club and Wrotham Heath. Indeed, the Caley has a rich history of
inter-club matches.
Is there a maximum handicap for prospective members?
There is no handicap limit to join; in fact, you don't need a handicap
to join the Caley.
Does being a member help me to get rounds on the Championship
Course?
Being a member doesn't automatically get you a round on the Championship,
although if you are picked for a Club team event then obviously the Club pays.
What do club members do in the winter?
They golf! There is a winter golf league for the hardy, plus a snooker
competition and many other social events in the clubhouse.
Do you have any information about the Junior Section?
To get information about the Junior
Section, contact Ian Frier, the Junior
Convenor.
Do I need club members to act as a proposer and a seconder
for my application?
You need to have a proposer and a seconder who are both members of the
Club in order to process your application.
Who do I contact about making an application to join
the Caley club?
